Is it worth it to stay an extra semester in order to study abroad?

As of right now, I'm going to graduate in the fall, instead of spring, of the year of my graduation (so that's already a semester %26lt;or 2 if you count summer%26gt; behind).

Should I just graduate a whole year late (meaning, take another whole semester) in order to study abroad? Is it worth it?

I did it. I though it was worth it. Anyway, I graduated during a recession. All my friends were getting jobs as waitstaff and bookshop clerks. I figured, if I was going to work as a waitstaff, I could do that *after* going to Ireland. So off I went.

I'm so glad I went. It was a great experience, and something that would be next-to-impossible to do once you start working, spending that much time actually living overseas. It looks good on a resume. And, like you, graduating a bit later meant that I was graduating in the Spring, rather than after Fall semester. Since more employers are looking for college students in the Spring, that also worked to my advantage.

When I got back, I got a professional, entry-level job within a month.
Reply:I have studied abroad in both France and Japan. I think it is totally worth it to study abroad. You don't even have to take a whole semester. You can study in the summer if you want to. There are many schools that offer study abroad for the summer. You can check out www.isep.org, www.ciee.org, www.studiesabroad.com. There are also many other websites out there. The best thing to do is go to your schools study abroad adviser. He or she could be a lot of help. I would definitely recommend it, though.
Reply:Yes, worth it.
