I was thinking that I would like to spend a semester studying abroad in another country (I'm studying the language in school)but I don't have much money to put in on it. Are there loans or financial assistance for students who want to study abroad or do I need to have a certain amount of money on hand before I can consider doing it?
Is it very expensive to study abroad in another country for a semester?
Sometimes it depends where you want to study/for how long. One should also take into account personal expenses/tickets (often a cost separate from tuition, which you may have to pay or fundraise to pay). You should also be in good academic standing. I applied for a program with my school and also had to take language courses along with a History of Brazil class. I would just prepare to have a budget and available money while you're there, and a ready source in your home country in case something unexpected comes up. I would think special programs that take students from specific schools or areas of study (like Fine Arts or Literature, Religion, Business, etc.) might offer some assistance...that's all I'm able to offer.
