Does anyone know of an overseas apprenticeship or study abroad program for beer brewing?

I'm looking for a program that would let me study closely with someone who brews beer, preferably overseas (I live in the U.S.), and preferably in an English speaking country. Any info might help.

I would recommend that you first start learning to brew. Pick up homebrewing as a hobby, and read every book and website you can get your hands on. If you have brewing experience, that would help you with a career in the biz no matter where you would want to relocate.

A couple great websites I can recommend would be http://www.howtobrew.com and http://www.homebrewtalk.com//index.php?r... . And I would also recommend you pick up a copy of Charlie Papazian's book 'The Complete Joy of Homebrewing'. Then find a local homebrew shop or check out http://www.midwestsupplies.com or http://www.austinhomebrew.com for equipment and supplies.

If you can learn to brew on your own, and gain the knowledge and experience beforehand, you will be much more useful to an active commercial brewery.

Feel free to email me if you have any further questions.
Reply:Look in trade magazines. Check your local library and the internet for information. Perhaps you could start by working with someone in the US, to start your skill set.
Reply:I saw something recently, and I hope I remember it correctly. Samuel Adams offers a new brewers kit that takes you thru the home brewing process from start to finish. I know it's not like a European brewery being a hands-on intern, but from what I saw made it look like a good start for those who wish to get into brewing as a hobby or a career. Who knows, you could end up a brewmaster for the best american brewery!
