I'm going to study abroad in Spain and wanted to know: which city is better, Madrid or Barcelona?

I plan to study abroad my junior year in college in Spain and wanted to know if Madrid or Barcelona was better. I heard that Barcelona is better for young people, but Madrid is better for actually learning Spanish. Which is better and why?

Barcelona is beautiful city with very interesting social life, so there is a lot of opportunitis to find friends and talk with people at all, wich I mean is a very important for practising spanish. Madrid isnt bad its just not so livefull place.

Reply:barcelona is better for young ppl because its a fun place.. there is alot of young things to do there and its very nice to see

madrid is jus the capital and its main learning view is there..
Reply:When I went to Spain I only went to Madrid not Barcelona but I would study in Seville if I had the choice. It is near the beach and there are a ton of young people and my friend now speaks wonderful spanish and learned alot about the culture. Madrid is very city and fast paced. If I was gonna endulge my self in the culture it would be in a smaller town
Reply:Madrid, cause in Barcelona people speak a little complicated, if you want to learn spanish you should go to Madrid, i'll go to there in a couple months to study there ;)
